More than a place of learning
Willoughby International School is more than a place of learning; it’s a close-knit community where every student is known, supported and inspired to reach their full potential. Our focus is on academic excellence, personal growth and global readiness.
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1972 as one of the first bilingual schools in Spain, Willoughby International College has become a recognised benchmark in education in Madrid. This reputation has been built on more than 50 years of dedication, experience, and a consistent commitment to excellence. Today, the school is known for delivering high-quality education across all stages, from Pre-School to Secondary.
In 2026, the school joined the IES-SEK Group, further strengthening its international outlook and expanding opportunities for students to benefit from a broader global educational experience. Following this change, the school was renamed Willoughby International School.
Through continuous, carefully designed personalised programmes, our teaching team and leadership bring the school’s Educational Project to life, enabling every student to reach their full potential both academically and personally.
At Willoughby International School, our personalised and close approach to students and families is one of our greatest strengths. We believe that strong, direct communication is key to ensuring each student’s success. For this reason, our staff are always available to support parents and students, fostering a collaborative and trusting environment.
Located on Avenida de Pío XII, in the Chamartín neighbourhood, the school offers a truly personalised bilingual education. By the end of Secondary school, students achieve outstanding levels of English, preparing for the University of Cambridge English exams (Advanced and Proficiency) and attaining an exceptional command of the language.
IES ACADEMIC VISION
IES schools deliver a rigorous skills-based curriculum through relevant and real-life challenges that have meaning to learners and encourage them to take responsible action from what they have learned.
Our student-centred approach allows students to build on previous learning and to demonstrate this in a variety of ways which ensures personal success for each learner.
IES graduates are confident and independent creative problem-solvers with a passion for learning. They are empathetic, open minded and resolute; appreciate their own culture and respect the cultures of others.
They are future-ready global citizens who are prepared for the real world and want to make a difference.
Sapientia Quod Faciendum Faciam – Do what you must with wisdom
Our school offers a nurturing environment that supports students at every stage.
